We had had a good stretch of abnormally warm weather back in February that took the ice off the pond very quickly, I am guessing that the rapid ice melt mixed the water column quickly and killed a significant number of my RES. Most of the dead RES I have picked up have been from a single extremely large year class in the 6" to 8" size range, smaller and larger RES are noticeable absent for some odd reason. In the last 4 weeks I have picked 116 dead RES over 6" with only four 9" RES and three over 10". The ones popping up over the last week are very decayed, they are missing skin, eyeballs, and cheeks. Water temps in the 40's have made this a very slow drawn out process.


That is pretty sickening Shorty. Sorry to hear that. I've been catching a few so hope mine are ok.
