Thanks guys. I know you know what it is like to get these kinds of storms.

I got this update a little while ago from a friend who runs one of the disaster relief organizations:

Quote:
6:00pm WV VOAD Agency Updates:

The call started with this statement, "This storm was different and is different. Recovery isn't going to happen in a couple of days." The caller was encouraging everyone to exercise patience with this process. People are being cared for...they are being sheltered, fed, and receiving medical, spiritual, and emotional care.

PLEASE SEE PREVIOUS POST FOR DONATION INFORMATION

Shelters are open in at least 8 counties. The Red Cross and Southern Baptist have feeding stations open in multiple sites in the affected areas. There are approximately 1300 people in shelters at this time. This is the most people in shelters that the state of WV has ever had.

If you have a team ready to roll, please register them at crisiscleanup.org. There are listings on that site of jobs that need claimed. If one of the jobs is of interest to your team, claim it and contact Sherri. Community Lutheran Partners carries a small insurance policy for volunteers. If you wish to go through us, Sherri will send you the forms and t-shirts.

Also, after you register at crisiscleanup.org, please register at volunteerwv.org. They will contact you when projects come up that match your skill sets. WV VOAD is currently working with other agencies to set up accomodations for volunteers. More information on this will be available when you are contacted. If you are not contacted by someone, please let Sherri know and she will follow-up with you.

Thank you for your willingness to help your neighbor during this time of need.

Thanks again,
Ken
