We are seeing a similar pattern in Guntersville so far with bass with a roughly 50:50 Florida/Northern genome makeup overrepresented in bass over 8 lbs caught during tournaments. Of note, these bass are not pure F1's, but are likely the result of several generations of hybridizing and backcrossing between the native bass in the lake and introduced Florida bass, mostly stocked in the 1990s. There are several factors, catchability, cold tolerance, habitat usage, aggressiveness etc. that together, at least in this part of the TN River system, are causing a hybrid to shine.
