On Facebook he mentioned he was 40 some feet ahead of them going to the spot they'd all agreed on. Maybe they saw him go through and couldn't bring themselves to chance it. I think I'd have a tough time not risking it myself if I saw one of my friends/family go in. I'd almost rather go with him then live with the "what if" the rest of my life.


I've been involved in a couple of ice rescues - one on the Platte River with heavy current. You don't think about it, you simply react. Smart to keep 25-50' of rope in the sled for such emergencies.
