Pit, I use PVC and I am very successful. Here is a link to one of the traps I made.
Fish trap 2.0 I can catch up to 50 fish at a time depending on where I place it.
I also made a smaller one for bait fish and it also works great.
One of the best parts is that they float right on the waterline. I bait is sometimes and other times I don't. It works well either way.
Even with glue times, It can be made in about 3 hours without breaking a sweat.
