Sounds like spawning mortality to me. Are the bluegills mostly males -- if you can tell in their morbid state? Are they larger older fish? The combination of spawning stress and age may have conspired to produce your fish kill.
If so, it will pass. Actually most events like this will.
60 fish in a 6 acre lake is enough to cause concern but not especially high considering how many fish you probably have.
