A few months back, a friend placed a Masterbuilt digitally-controlled "smokehouse" at my backdoor. I love the thing, but twice I was unable to get it to operate. The digital display showed "EAAF." The manual doesn't say what that means. Digging on the Internet, I found that if the internal temperature is less than 20 degrees, the unit will not operate. If you warm up the thermostat, which looks like a quarter or nickle glued to the inside-left-rear panel, it will start! I warmed it up with a sponge I'd soaked in hot water. It worked!
Six pounds of trout are in the smoker, getting ready for Christmas day appetizers.
