I have never had blue green algae but I think it is the last thing I would want. This is just information I came across while reading the Small Scale Aquaculture book many think so highly of. The book said that Silver Carp eat Blue Green Algae. However the Silver Carp is an invasive fish from Asia that has been seen on TV as the fish that jumps into boats. It is believed they do this because the noise of the boat motors causes an irritation to them. This is just information and not any suggestion.
This early Dec. 2009 photo shows Illinois River silver carp jump out of the water after being disturbed by sounds of watercraft. Many fear that the Asian carp, which can reach 4 feet long and weigh up to 100 pounds, will wreak havoc, not by attacking native fish, but starving them out by gobbling up plankton.
