If you live in the southern tier of states, you probably need to apply fertilizer 5-6 times to get optimal results. If you use a powder like trophymaker @ 4 lbs/acre, you would need about 8 sacks for a year at @ $30/sack that is $240. First application should be 8 lbs/acre and after the water has warmed to 65.
If you have bad vegetation problems, you really should consider killing it off or perhaps stocking grass carp in conjunction with fertilizing. It also depends on the type of vegetation as to what route to choose.
