Not a lot of good research has been performed on the young of HBG. It is thought that after many generations (10-20) the young are inferior. This may or may not be true depending on the genetic crosses of those earlier generations. However the first few generations of HBG can result in nice sized fish as evidenced in some tests in Texas( http://www.meadowlarkponds.com/TGG.htm ). If you are interested in HBG you should read this thread from the archives: http://forums.pondboss.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=256325#Post256325
