George, what type of fly were you shootin for the HSB and Gills? TJ
TJ, I'm not much for written records so I have created a"photo journal" to documemnt growth of OTS CNBG over a period of time.
At present I have monthly photo records since stocking.

Fly used for sampling in November was a foam pellet fly and they would not touch a "Purina Nymph".
Yesterday in cold water they wanted a sinking PN.

George

Thanks for the feedback - two more questions for you....

1. If you ever have time, do you have any photos or instructions on how to tie the PN or FPF? I tried to look this up and am still sorting through the posts for pictures.

2. Do your pellet trained fish ever take natural patterns like nymphs, streamers, poppers or are they attracted to pellet patterns only?

thanks in advance George!

TJ

1. TJ, I tie the Purina Nymph ( PC name for my version of Cecil’s “panty hose” pellet fly) the same as foam pellet, but use actual AQMX 600 pellet - no need to tie and glue on hook - just run hook point thru PH material and go fish.
Link below is materials list and photo instructions:

2. Our pellet-trained fish readily take wiggly leg surface foam bugs and subsurface flies as well - probably larger fish, not hook shy from pellet flies.
