Homemade fish feeders
Homemade fish feeder made from a deer feeder and trash can. Use "the eliminator" as the spinner to help prevent moisture problems. The eliminator ,which can be found on the internet, requires a high torque motor. Use metal flashing to build a funnel for the inside of the trash can. Solar charger is a must. Most any feeder timer will work. Use bungee cord to keep lid on. Metal flashing is used for fear deflector.

You can also buy the spreader & timer as a kit from Texas Hunter and mount the unit on a container. They had a sale on the kits a few weeks ago. http://www.texashunterproducts.com/feeder-kits/

The key to minimizing moisture, that will clog the feeder, is to use a spinner that will close on the feed funnel. The eliminator uses centrifugal force to lower the spinner and a spring to close the spinner on the funnel. Any holes in the container should be sealed and the lid should be a tight fit. The main reason that spin deer feeders do not work well on deer pellets or fish food is moisture clogging the funnel opening.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave, Doing good thanks for asking., Grandkids soccer has replaced a lot of pond time. I wouldn't have it any other way. New project is converting 40' shipping container into a bunkhouse. Son n law putting up zip lines. Still on old man time, but is is getting a lot slower.. Sounds like you have a great trip planned with the grandkids. Hope you and yours are enjoying good health.
