"ots" coppernose blue gill

Just one example from my new 2 acre pond. This fish was stocked at 1 inch and is only 8 months old. Only 6 inches long but already weighed 5 ounces. Relative weight of a wopping %195!!!! These were purchased at Overton's and stocked end of February. I have already caught 7 and 1/2 inch ones weighing 6.5 ounces!!

195%! That's the highest Wr I have ever seen on a BG. I am curious about one thing, though. What I typically see on a very fast growing young fish is the tendency to "outgrow" their fins, meaning a large body compared to small fins. But the caudal on that fish is absolutely huge for its size.

"Forget pounds and ounces, I'm figuring displacement!"

If we accept that: MBG(+)FGSF(=)HBG(F1)
And we surmise that: BG(>)HBG(F1) while GSF(<)HBG(F1)
Would it hold true that: HBG(F1)(+)AM500(x)q.d.(=)1.5lbGRWT?
PB answer: It depends.

I have pellet fed since the very first day. Started them on Cargill 4512 in the 1/8th inch.Have a Texas Hunter feeder, Feed is 45% protein. Feed every morning around 8am and every evening around 7pm.I use 50# of feed a month.I now mix 1/8 inch with 3/16th inch and probably use a little more than 50# a month. How did you like that sunset!! I have been blessed.

Flame, Nice view, I also have OTS CNBG and have had some good growth. But I have not seen one that looks like the one u pictured here. Are u force feeding them? Poking food down their throat smile

Tracy, The secret is I talk to my fish every day. I tell them I am going to start raising Great Blue Herons if they don't eat!!!

Flame,

That is awesome. I hope to follow in your foot steps. My 1500 OTS CNBG are 8 months behind yours. They are pecking at the Optimal BG feed already. Hope to post a picture June/July.
