Gast air pump

Would this air pump work for an aeration system?

What's the performance specs on it? i.e. cfm at what psi. How big and deep is your pond?

Larry, the acre foot number is correct if your pond has a max depth of 20', or if the sides are vertical. If neither of those statements is true, then you should divide your acre foot figure by 2 to get the correct ac/ft figure.

esshup, that's the figure that two different online calculators came up with, but I think you may be right.

Your pond is more like an inverted pyramid than a cylinder or a square. The calcs can be off depending on how much of the pond bottom is 10' deep, but what I said will get you much closer.

esshup I think is more correct for acre feet in 0.29 ac pond. I calculate acft to be close to 1.4acft. A little less acft if only a small area of not much bigger than a bulldozer is 10ft deep. You likely have closer to 400,000 to 500,000 gallons when the pond is completely full.

That pump should work very well for pond aeration. The 1023 compressor is 3/4 hp which is almost too much air volume for your 0.3 ac pond. Normally the 3/4 hp compressor is for 1-maybe 5 acres. Note: Using all the 9-10cfm you should be able to operate 6-10 membrane diffusers which would almost create too strong of a circulation in the pond causing extra suspended 'silt' particles if you run it 24/7. You IMO with that amount of air and properly sized diffusers you could get buy with 3-5 hrs of operation per day in your small pond. You could run the pump twice a day for 1-3 hrs each time producing 1 to 3 turnovers each time. With too few diffusers you might cause membrane tearing or blowouts.

Why does the pump have 3 pressure relief valves? Is the round canister an air filter or some sort of air check valve? I think I see an air filter on the backside of the round canister.

I've decided to go with a 1/4 hp rocking piston compressor. Gast has one that I might use.

Those are couplings to plug an air hose into, at least two of them are. Hard to make out the 3rd from the image, but looks to be one as well.

JKB - good eyes on that one. Look closely on the right side and that one is the adjustable pressure relief valve. Note the threads that end with a jam nut. It has slightly different features than the two on the left side.
