I have a 1/4 acre pond, about a year old, stocked with forage fish in March 2018. Spawning all over the place, very happy. Here's the question, plan to stock bass and catfish in the fall, when should I start the aerate my pond?

Thanks,

Tom T

I would have aeration in place to active in Mar-Apr after you stock your bass and catfish. Aerating this summer will allow your pond to produce more forage fish because aeration will create more living space (depth area) for the forage fish.

Bill,
My 1/4 acre pond is about 15' at the deepest point, 2-6' around the banks. Any recommended aeration systems?

IMO your best compressor for your pond configuration is a 1/4hp rotary vane. It will run for 5 hrs on one kilowatt of electricity - 110 volts. Look into the GAST 0523 models of compressor. It will make plenty of air volume to readily mix your pond in around 3-4 hrs with two 9" dia disk membrane diffusers placed in a PVC manifold in the deep part of your pond. The compressor is very easy to rebuild when necessary.
