Last year I cleared out my prime rose and this is what came back late summer. Not sure what it is. Trying to nip it. This came in but no prime rose came back. Thank you for your help.

Looks like chara to me, too.

Jacklegg, have you pulled any & smelled it? If smells strongly of sulfur/garlic, almost certainly chara. I have a variant in my BOW.

Only solace I can give you is that fish seem to like chara. If you have to have a plant, there are much worse things. I know grass carp eat it.

I'll take a look tonight and smell it. I have 3 grass carp in my pond right now. Pond is about 1/3-1/2 acre.

Sometimes the odor of Chara is not real strong. A picture of it out of the water in a shallow light colored pan and a close picture of it in your hand helps with identification. Three young to middle age grass carp will eat & clean it up in a pond that small. Add another grass carp when the three get 6-8yrs old and you begin seeing more Chara. Also tilapia will eat it.

Here are updated pictures of my pond plant issues.
94 & 96 are the same one "chara"? and the other one not sure of either. Looking for remedies.

Note: These popped up after my removal of 75% of primerose in my pond. Thank you for the help and guidance
