Good morning, I am new to ponds and what it takes to keep them clean and beautiful, I have noticed that algae has become more of a pest the alge is long and stringy. I found a new air pump made by bullard EDP10 and would like to know if would be a start with help to Aerate the pond?I have been reading more & more about aeration about windmills, and other means of aeration, but I am undecided and confused. Glad to have found this Site and hoping to learn more about Ponds in here. any help is deeply appreciated.

Hello Ernest and welcome to Pond Boss. Hold on and one of the experts will be along shortly to answer your question.
The experts will probably need more information regarding your pond, such as:
1. Size of pond
2. Average depth of pond, also it probably wouldn't hurt to know how deep the pond is at its deepest.
3. Shape of the pond (photos can be real helpful here).
4. What is in the pond (in terms of both plants and fish).
That's all I can think of so far but I'm sure you'll get more questions.

Thanks Jeffhasapond, The pond was there from the prior owner and I did measure the size its a rectangular shaped pond will post exact size when i get home. I was told the deepest part is 17 feet and has fish in it catfish, bass, and other which i am not sure. I have been raking out the alage little by little but wow time consuming and back breaking but notice the stink smell and muddy look need help or will have dying fish soon. Its a releif to find this site.

Greetings, Ernest. If you haven't seen it, you may want to read the archive thread on Filamentous Algae. It sounds like that could be what you've got.
