Those are a couple of pretty good snakes. I wonder if they were rattling.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I would have needed a pretty good zoom on MY camera to get that shot.
20 acres of trees & 3/4 acre pond.

I'd need a good zoom, and a really clean window in my car.

I posted a link to your picture to the reptile section of a taxidermy webpage. I assume it was a male and female but a poster said the following:
Neat photos but I would say that it is 2 male snakes in combat rather than mating. The male snakes will raise up like that, rap around each other and then push each other down to the ground. When mating the snakes will lay next to each other like that but be flat on the ground with their tails turned against each other.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Cecil, although I'm certainly not an expert, I disagee with with the guy that saw it as a fight. Nothing in the wild fights without facing the antagonist.
Gotta admit that I have never seen rattlesnakes either fighting or mating.

Frankly, I don't care what they were doing. I'd still be in my car.

I talked to the friend of mine who took the picture and he said "trust me these two snakes weren't fighting" and he's a guy who has seen lots of snakes.
In Dog Beers, I've had one.

After reviewing the information on rattlesnake mating on the net, I have to agree with Cecil's guy and think these two snakes were indeed fighting not mating.
In Dog Beers, I've had one.
