You know, that makes perfect sense, numbers-wise. Sunil weighs about 600.
I know that sounds awfully heavy, but it looks very proportionate on his strapping, 8 1/2 foot frame.

We shall soon know the answer.
Theo, I'm up to 710lbs.

Dang Sunil, are you knocked up again?

O.K. Guys,
Actual straight line length of the dam measured by laser rangefinder from the inside edge of the spillway to the far point where the water meets the shore and the dam is............................
252 feet.
I did not include the spillway as it really is not part of the dam but undistrubed ground where the dam starts.
Sunil- I do have a actual 3' stride but with the skeeters we got and the 2.8 inches of rain last nite that started about 10 pm, It just wasn't gonna happen. Sorry about your 5 bucks..........

I'm sad. I was assuming the curved measurement.

I was also thinking about the true linear distance, curves and all, of the dam as opposed to the straight-line measurement.
I fear my 449' might be a tad off even with the curves. I did some basic Pi x D calcs, and if the two sections of the "3" were perfect half circles, the both of them would only add up to about 400'. But because they are not full half circles, I owe some cash.
Harsh.

Still, you can bench press 710 lbs.
Right?

Thanks GW. I was calculating the curved measurement as well. I have to admit that I had somewhat of an unfair advantage. My dam is curved and 225'

EXPERIENCED! I would like to know the distance with the curves... I bet I am not far off. D.P.? Below is what 225' curved looks like.

Well, Blaine... are you going to be at the next Pond Boss Conference? If so, I owe you a round of a good drink, or two or three rounds of bad drinks.
BTW, what does "Don't chobie me!" mean?

I have full intentions of making the conference. I was beside myself for missing this year. An invitation to have some drinks with Pond Boss Royalty solidifies the deal!
You are the first to ask what that means, so let me share a new term from my neck of the woods in Indiana...
If you are fishing a great spot and others observing your success decide to invade your space, we call that chobie'n. So, as they slink or cast in to your personal fishing space, you have to tell them. "Don't Chobie me".

Well Blaine, I wouldn't go so far as royalty, court jester maybe, but others have got that covered.
Toddy huh? Should be a good report then!

NEWS FLASH--- This just in.... At approximately 6:15 P.M. tonight witnesses reported seeing a deranged man braving a mosquito infestation walking along a dam deep in the woods in Southern Michigan. Witnesses told our reporter that the fellow was flailing his arms around wildly swatting at unseen bugs and counting out loud with every step he took. When the fellow reached the end of the dam and had counted 97 paces he ran back to a waiting running Honda Rubicon and fled the scene at a high rate of speed. (end of story -30-)
So 97 X 3' = 291 feet. I wouldn't have believed that the curves would have added 39'. That would put Blaine within 19 feet, GW at 91 under, Dr. Bruce at 74' over and Sunil at 158' over.
Couple Jack Daniels Single Barrel toddys and ya could almost forget the mosquitoes....almost.

D.I.E.D.- Got it. Would you believe by the case. Commercial formula for the phone co. 35% DEET I think. Heck, we put it on so often I think it cracks. There are so many this year it don't seem to phase 'em. Don't ever remember 'em being this bad.

Great guess Dave! I can't believe you clipped me by 3'. Drinks on me. How many toddies DP? Should we factor any slight stumbling, slippin' in the mud?
