I just stocked my 5 acre pond about a month ago with Florida Large Mouth Bass and Blue Gill. I am curious, under optimal conditions how large should the Bass and Blue Gill be at this point? The Bass were 3 inch fingerlings and the Blue Gill were 1 to 2 inch fingerlings. The reason I ask is that yesterday when I was feeding, I noticed the minnows running from other fish, so I decided to fish. I caught several (10 to 15) blue gill in the 4 inch range, they were very healthy. Is it possable that these are the same fish that I stocked a month or so ago? If so how large might the bass be by this time?

Thanks,

Dave

I stocked about 2 months ago 4-6 inch gills and 5-7 inch bass. Gills are about the smae but look fatter the bass look about 9 - 10 inches now.

are you feeding them? Try the purina fish chow works great.

Thanks for the reply. Yes I am feeding them, I'm just amazed at how fast the Blue Gill have grown. They have doubled in size, both length and girth, in just a little over a months time. I guess my biggest question is how big (considering the size of the Blue Gill) are the LM at this point? If they too have doubled in size that would mean these fish are already 6 to 8 inchs long .... I just can't imagine that. Could they (LM) actually be that size already?

Thanks

Dave
