All I wanted was a simple 8 x 12 cantilevered deck over the pond, spent days working on the plans and material list…I,m on a tight schedule and only have 30 days to complete this project. Today was suppose to be the day I get to order materials. Well….yesterday my wife’s best friend came by and said to my wife “ if you build a two story deck “we” can have our own party deck” . After I got done beating my head against the wall, I wanted to say…. first of all what is this “we” business, second show me the money and third…I cant repeat it . What ever happened to the good old days…. straw hat, cane pole and parking your butt on a grassy spot next to the pond. Back to the drawing board

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

The enthusiasm for such sudden big ideas usually fade fast. Just stick to your plan, and if there are any repercussions, just say you thought they were kidding.

Never say no, just make up some story about code, insurance or liability. One of those three will always work. Guranteed!!!!!

The second story would make a good launch pad for a zip line.

Ryan might be on to something, but serious consideration must be given to the Theopult. We have found it to be the ultimate adult extreme pond entertainment. Details are within this page, about 1/2 way down .

J.P.-
I've never met Ryan Freeze, but from reading around here,I know three things about him:
1] He has a hilarious, laconic writing style.
2] He doesn't like raccoons.
3] If I recall, he had the most entries in Bruce's "Stupid Stunts" thread....I'd say the "Theobuchet" as suggested by Brettski might be a safer alternative........

a two story deck lol. that would take a lot more work then anyone wants to do. my dad and i put up a 12'X24' deck overlooking our barnyard and you can also see the pond location. put it this way it was a lot harder then i thought. it was easier to put up our shed and one of little horse run ins. the major problems are that 1/2 of you supports are off the edge of a cliff or in you case the pond. so for the two story idea unless you can get a couple of guys and have a lot of time then i dont think you will get it built in 30 days.
