Greetings All,

I have been silent for a few months while my new pond in SW Oklahoma filled. It is now fully 8 surface acres and has had water out the overflow since May. All is well, I have fertilized, and I am waiting for my order of shiners and coppernose to arrive. A relative showed me minnows that he calls "blackjack" minnows that live in his creek. He says that they are very prolific. The largest that I have seen was only about 2.5 inches long. It is heavier bodied than a shiner and has darker fins. It does not seem to resemble a carp or sucker variety. Not so robust as a redhorse. I can find nothing out about this minnow. Has anyone heard of it? Many thanks, Tom

Canepole. Blackjack minnow is a local name. Get a close up CLEAR photo of one or a couple of these fish. If you do not know how to post it then send it to a moderator and they will post it for you. Someone here will know what this fish is really called.
