Just posted this but wanted it in Q&A section, inadvertantly posted it to feeding sec. Ponds are not settling down from rains, one rain after another, PTL, not griping, but really want to stock forage. Any input? One pond that I really want to before super hot weather is 4-5 ac. and 27' at dam and backsup into trees and brush and will stay there barring another 2-yr. drought. Want to go with Harrell Arms numbers: 250 BG, 100 RE, 4# GS, 4# FH per acre. That will give me 5-6 mo. spawning and multiplying of forage before spring. Can add FS-bass in fall or spring whichever is best
We had several ponds cleaned out during fall to obtain the only benefit of a long, long-term drought. Now all are full and have gone around spillways, but the rains just keep on coming and the water is still muddy. A couple of months ago talked to Harrell Arms and he suggested waiting til water settled, well that ain't happening and in my undeveloped pondmeister mind, I want to go ahead, rather muddy than 90-100 degree weather that will soon be here. One 4-acre pond that goes from 27' at dam to shallow backed up in trees and underbrush. Also 2 small 1/4 and 1 half-acre. Any thoughts....talking stocking forage only: BG, Gshiners, FH, Rdearsf

Just how muddy is the water ? What is the visibility ? FH can tolerate poor water conditions as can BG and RES. I will check on GShiners. May need to feed them though.
Are you sure you want all Fla LMB ?
I combined your posts here.

They will live but spawning is a problem without sunlight penetration to the eggs. That kinda defeats the forage part of the equation. However, I would probably go ahead and stock. The pond will clear and it could get too hot for stocking in the near future.
It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

Dave the BG and RES will be to small to reproduce this summer. My concern for them is food. The FH spawn under objects with the eggs attached to the underside of the board/pvc/limb/etc in shallow water. I don't think FH eggs need light penetration to hatch like BG and LMB.
