That looks like a GSF/RES hybrid. Orange eartab and mouth too small to be a pure GSF. I would call that a pretty unusual catch. As far as the mudcat, maybe a pound. The fat belly wont add much to the wt.

Wow those are some chunky bullheads. Are they fed pellets or on natural feed?
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

Those are nice bullies. Good job. Maybe Eric or Bill C. can look at that lepomid and confirm or deny BM's suspicions. That fish struck me as a little wrong for pure GSF as well so I agree with Burger.
Looks like you had fun.
Holding a redear sunfish is like running with scissors.

remember, this is the pond with longears, gsf, bg, and cnbg that I have identified for sure then various hybrids so I defer to wiser minds on that puzzle:) No feed but the extra bread the ducks dont eat. The pond has gambusia and tons of sunfish and some nice bass. TPWD just redid the whole thing a couple of years ago. It was quite a project. They only show a history of stocking cnbg, bass, and cc on their site but there are also giant carp and goldfish and this was the first bullhead. I'm pretty possitive that there aren't any crappie but it's a great city pond and it's right across the street so i can catch the last 30 min of the day pretty regularly.

Some GSF can have an orange tint to the gill flap edge. I do agree though that this fish looks like a cross to me. Many of Keith's lepomis pics are unusual and seem all mixed up (multiple traits from several different lepomis).
