We stocked a 50 acre pond with black crappie and bass 2 years ago. I,ve caught some of the crappie and have found worms in most of them. They are mostly around the rib area.
And the bass have what looks like small larve in the flesh of the fish. What causes this and can we do something about it.

I'm new here and I can't see that pic, but I used to lease a 70ac reservoir where the bass had round worms in the flesh, mostly behind the ribcage, and in the intestines. TP&W told me the worms were distributed by bird guano and that there was not much you could do to get rid of them. The worms either entered through the flesh or were eaten and then bored into the flesh, I can't remember. That was in the late 80's, so maybe technology has improved so they can be controled. They also indicated the fish were fine to eat cooked but I keep very few fish ever so I paid that no mind. Some of the fish were completly eaten up by those worms I really didn't wany to eat them. Does that sound like your worms? MP

Many fish grub-type parasites live the bird-snail-fish lifecycle. This can be broken or at least impaired by stocking RES to lower the snail population. Cecil Baird has reported a similar snail control ability by YP.

Control measures implemented against fish-eating birds such as herons and cormorants might also be of benefit.
