I have a 2 1/2 acre new pond. It is being filled by a pump at the rate of 60 gallon per minute. The pond was lined with hauled in clay. It is about half full as we have to shut down and water the berm area to start rye and grass. The water comes out onto metal roofing material and splashes over to increase the oxygen. We stocked 2500 bluegil and 2000 minnows. I would like to increase the bluegills and add after 2 years small mouth bass. This pond was dug out from flat land and will be over 10 feet deep. Give me your thoughts, helpful hints and etc.

The worlds best smallmouth fishing is on the Tennessee River in Tennessee, Alabama and NE Mississippi. However, I would think it would be very difficult to manage for smallmouth in a pond that far south. I would go with largemouths and visit Pickwick for smalljaws.
