Eat your heart out Bruce!

About nine inches and just under a pound.

Gentlemen,

I have just discovered the close up button on the wife's digital. Is that close up of a bluegill's head cool or what!

Nice bluegill but maybe we need to get him to quit wearing that beanie.

You need to get him a real helmet like mine have.

Dueling Bluegills! My bluegill is better than your bluegill. The Pond Boss Convention in March will be FUN.

Cecil, was that a Yingling BG? I finally released mine from cage culture about a month ago. Growth in 1.5 yrs was not impressive.

You just wait Bruce. Junior's only a three year old and hasn't a clue about the birds and the bees yet and he won't, as there aren't any ladies in this pond. He's gonna be a monster I tell ya. As big and round as a semi tire! I'll be feeding him a bag of Aquamax a day! And he'll make that helmet of your gill's look like a tin foil hat!

:p :p :p

BTW, I was watching a rerun of Star Trek The Next Generation the other day while I was working in the shop. It was the episode where these parasites took over crewman's bodies and they left a telltale pointed thing on their necks know as "bluegills!" When I heard that I was chuckling to no end!

Gotta go. Got to catch 12 bass really quick out of the pond and freeze them. I'm using the following pellets tied up in pantyhose with a very small ice fishing float up the line about 18 inches as a strike indicator. I chum a little and cast this baby out. It's too easy! But since I'm getting $12.00 per pound for these smaller bass for taxidermy schools I don't mind. ;\)

CB1 :

Tell us about your BG pic. Is it from your mostly almost all male BG pond population or out of one of the other ponds ? How about a growth history. Is it one of the ones you were looking for 2 in. of growth out of over the prior remaining year (Aug 2005 - spring 2006 ) ?

edit -- You answered part above as I was writing this post.

Hey do dead bluegill count in this duel? If the tail margin membrane were present total length would be at or just shy of 12". Although there isn't any more growth expected from this fish. However there are several others still swimming the fishy waters where he came from.

Is this a tin-foil helmet, Bruce?

I am very disturbed by this thread. ;\)

It just further magnifies the problem of obsesity in America. These poor fish may face serious heart and gill problems before they reach old age.

Catmandoo

P.S. Please post all of your secrets so that others can't possibly make this mistake with the fish in their ponds.

cat and others interested - all the juicy details were published in a three part article this spring 2006 in Pond Boss Mag - Mar/Apr, May/Jun and Jul/Aug. See those issues for a complete description of the methodology. The upcoming issue of Nov/Dec PBoss Mag willl discuss the genetics issues and the process for selecion of prize bluegill as high growth production fish.

Also to individually meet all three "job foremen" for producing the above three fish you are very welcome to attend the Pond Boss Convention at the Arlington Texas Convention Center in March 23-24, 2007. We hope to see you there; bring your "significant other" it should be warm in TX during late March, she will enjoy a warm weekend away from home.

When they're that big, they do count.

Boy are we in trouble if CB1's genetics are that far ahead. Sunil if CB1 has access to those (ET) genetics he can post the pics directly into your head. I sure hope Dr. Frankenbruce does not get his hands on those offspring or its no telling what would happen. :p
