CPAs are not noted for their imagination, hence the screen name that states the obvious.
In my defense however I did think of Pondtificate, and Pondarosa, but someone else thought of them first, which is proof of my original statement.

I was born on the day Lee Armstrong returned from the moon.
But I've heard that maybe he landed from somewhere in Arizona, and not really the moon.
Who knows....

Sunil, It was Neil and I promise you it was not Arizona, but was in fact the Moon.

Anyone that does not believe the moon landing happened should see the movie "The Dish". This is a true story about this remote dish in Australia that was the only dish that was in view of the moon when Niel Armstrong stepped off the eagle lander. The poor guy that was running the dish lost the coordinates that nasa had given him to the landing. He had to figure them for himself by hand and feed them into the dish. Sure enough when he put the figures in he had figured for the correct part of the moon, there was the video signal from the lander and we were all able to see the "giant leap for mankind". No way to fake that!

The name South Sauty Creek in Northern Alabam has an RV campground on the lower stretch but up by Henegar where our parcel is, we've got some wild doggies, half 'yote & half chow & probably other mixes. Family name is Wagoner. Great Great Great Granpa left for the Civil War, didn't return. G G G Granma left to find him, didn't return. G G Granpa was 5 at the time and stowed away on a wagon train from Indiana to Texas. He was a little vague on his last name and they called him 'Wagoner.' Don't care what 'ya call me as long as you call me fer supper.

Yes, ML, thanks for the correction. I don't know what made me write "Lee."
If anyone would know the truth, my bet would be on you.

PFF and Sunil, call it bragging, cause I'm proud of it.....my dad was an indefatigable geologist w/ the USGS for over 50 years....his specialty was volcanic rocks....he personally trained mercury, gemini, and apollo astronauts in the collection and handling of rock samples, and he was picked for the NASA team that observed the FIRST moon rocks (Apollo 11). After splashdown, he and his team spent three weeks in quarantine w/ aldrin, armstrong, and collins cause they didnt know what kinds of potential critters may accompany moon rocks. turns out it was all just basalt....the same stuff our ocean floors are made of, only it was pristine 4 billion year old basalt cause there's no atmosphere to oxidize rock surfaces.
yup, they made it there and back again.

Sunil,
The Moon has the presence of large areas of concentrations of very dense elements. These areas are so dense that they actually effect the trajectory of objects in orbit around the Moon (Newton's laws in action). Those areas we called "masscons" for large concentrations of mass. Unmanned mapping sats found most of these areas before we ever sent humans there.
The Apollo spacecraft was tracked by ground based stations and from those measurements, the trajectory was constucted. The "masscons" effect showed up exactly as predicted by the unmanned probes, and new ones were found as well. Yes, with tremendous effort, the tracking signals could be faked and the trajectory modeled rather than measured, but the task of faking that would have been an even more complex accomplishment than the landings.

ML, those areas are likely masses of ultramafic rocks (similar to what we have beneath the earth's upper crust).
i know this is WAY off topic, but a great opportunity to say.........if any of you or yer friends or acquaintances really believe the moon landing a conspiracy......let me be candid.....open yer eyes and get a life, not everything is a conspiracy.
Send me a private message if you feel the need to prove yer case, and i'll be happy to share some of the things I learned as a result of my dad being involved with the project from the early 1960's through the early 70's.
Sunil, who'd a thunk this topic would go 7 pages and almost 100 replies, even if half of it is off topic...way to start some fun dude.

You know, I was not saying that I did not believe they made it to the moon or not. Neil Armstrong touching down was just the most notable thing that I ever remembered about my birthday.
I've really never delved into the topic, but as I mentioned, some of you (ML, and indirectly DIED) were maybe directly involved, and I would not hesitate for a moment to defer to your respective knowledge.

I just finished watching the old (1980) movie "Roadie" starring Meatloaf. What does this have to do with PB Forum Screen Names you ask? Well, two of the bands appearing in the film are "Asleep at the Wheel" and "Family Tradition." So if you need a new Screen Name, get a copy of Roadie - all the good names are in there.
I've got to check the end credits again - I think I saw Bruce in the movie in his "Ava Gardner" persona.

Asleep At the Wheel has been around for a long while. Almost as long as Meatloaf. Who can forget his tribute to teenage love - "Dashboard Lights".
Rock bands have always been a source of amusement re their chosen names. Crash test dummies. Talking Heads. Etc.
When my smallies are old enough I hope to send them away to University so they can become smart and famous. And perhaps start a rock band. We can help them with a name when it is time. Perhaps they will be accepted in Somerset.
