Background: 1.25 acre springfed pond. In 2001 I had my pond drained and the spillway replaced. I restocked with 2300 BG in the fall of 2002. I restocked 230 LMB in the spring of 2003. I catch BG easily, but have yet to see a LMB. We have also been catching something my father calls "Mollie". Any ideas what is going on? Do I still have bass?

Boyce: What size BG & LMB did you restock? What size (range) & condition are the BG you catch? Can you describe what a "mollie" is? Anything like this (reportedly) Sailfin Mollie (native to eastern/central US, killifish relative):

I can't imagine the bass all dying. However, in that time (3 yrs), you should have seen evidence of them when they were feeding. You darn sure ought to be able to occasionally catch one.

Could the Warmouths have been present in large enough size and numbers in 2003 to have eaten all your LMB (fingerlings)? They are predatory enough to eat small LMB, given a size advantage. Given sufficient numerical superiority, maybe they wiped out ths LMB stocking (?).
