Our 8 day forecast rain percentage is as follows:

60, 50, 50, 50, 40, 40, 40, 40

We may accidentally get a sprinkle.

I'm accustomed to the worst. I've been monitoring "pond" weather since 2003, they predict "wet" conditions a LOT more than actual, but their for accuracy for heavy rainfall is humorous. In my area, you will get the heavy stuff when a typical pattern "stalls" over your area unexpectedly.

So much is said in pond construction about building steep pond banks (2-4 feet) to prevent weed growth...but in my area, constructing the banks in a shelf type manner would coincide better with annual rainfalls that go from 19" to 47" per season.

Gator,

I think I'm a little North of you and the prdictions are changing almost hourly. A few days ago last night was supposed to be the storm. Then it was supposed to be today. Right now they are saying 60 percent tomorrow and 80 percent tomorrow night.

Ten day forcast is at 40 percent for rain everyday.

I watered the grass in the front yard today because I don't believe any of it.

I hear you guys. After the last year of no rain, I've lost faith in the weather forecasters too. Seems like a 30% or 40% chance of rain never happens anymore.

Looks like a I caught a half inch last night. The food plots needed it badly. Now if we can just get (a lot) more.

Gator,

I just checked the NWS radar....looks like its on the way. We picked up 3/4 inch last night. This pattern is really looking hopeful for several days.

3/4 of an inch!!!!!!! I'm jeolous. So far I have over an inch of dust. A good breeze and it's dificult to see through it.

Forcast is for 60 percent chance of rain the next three days with some warnings of it being heavy and over an inch.

We'll see......

Guess the water doesn't want to interfere with my lake digging. The forecast now says cloudy today and a 60% chance for rain the next three days.

A few hours ago it was at 60% for today, then all of a sudden it's just cloudy. Does anybody actually make these predictions????

Brettski,

The dam is basically done, but I still have a few more weeks worth of work that I want to get done before I close the valve and beging waiting for the rains.

OK, I jinxed it - not much more than a sprinkling. The storms seem to just fall apart before they reach my place.

The June bug was probably looking for a drink of water.

bobad,

I've been digging on my pond for quite awhile now and it's so dry I have to push off the first foot of material to find enough moisture in it to compact!!!

Gator,

Yup, you jinxed it. hahaha

I got three differnt sprinkles that lasted a few seconds each. I really wonder how the forecasters can predict 80 percent chance of rain and warn of heavy to severe storms in excess of an inch and be so wrong time and time again.

Is there any other profession with such consistant failure????

What really gets me is I was convinced that out of all those days and warnings, I'd get something. That made me adjust what I was working on because of where the mud will be when it rains and that I wont be able to get back to that area for awhile.

Oh well,
Eddie

Alligator you didn't jinx it. I did when I dug my pond two years ago. It hasn't rained since.
