It's Official.

Kens delivered ~150 4" - 6" GG's + ~3,000 Gambusia minnows. I put in 50 4" - 6" CC last week. I plan to add HSB this summer.

My pond is still a little low and hopefully we will receive more rain. I am above the danger level and feel I could survive another drought if we missed the rain. At full capacity the pond will be about ¼ acre.

I do not plan to aerate.

I do not have a full time feeding program, but on average, I feed a couple of times per week.

Unfortunately I was traveling this week and couldn’t be there for the stocking. I plan to take pictures this weekend.

Gator,

Welcome to the TGG club!

I think you were very wise in stocking the 3000 Gambusia...I certainly wish I had stocked more of them when I started. Looking forward to hearing your results.

Thanks ML,

I decided to add extra Gambuisa since my feeding schedule will be erratic.

Just based on winter months and April in my experiment, the TGG prefer the Gambusia over the artificial feed anyway...in my little pond, the HSB predators eat the artificial feed, the TGG's eat Gambusia and grow and grow.

Thats good to know ML, I took a shot at that theory and ordered extras. I think Ken's delivered more than I actually ordered/paid for (dont tell Deb \:D ) based on my converstaion with their driver. I feel he wanted to be a little heavy vs. a little light. Nice guy.

When I saw the title of this thread I wasn't sure whether it meant "Gator's TGG Test" or some kind of extreme cold-blooded critter survival test. Considering the presence of Sneaky Pete, I guess it could go either way. \:D

Well, we caught our first GG this weekend, it was a 6 lber! Just kidding. No signs of 6lbers yet. Just happy kids. The GG's have settled in, we lost a few the day after stocking (from transportation stress?). They are not feeding heavily on floating pellets yet but we managed to snag a few with small spinners. I have noticed a Great Blue Herron hanging around. Dang expensive bird food.

Gator,

Priceless picture, just priceless. Those kids are going to love fishing that pond, especially later on this summer. Heck, I love catching them!

I have been pleasantly surprised at their relative disinterest in pellets. I'll bet you don't say the same thing about their interest in Gambusia, however.

I look forward to comparing notes as you move along in this adventure.

p.s. I'd bet that Heron is after Gambusia...and as many as you have, he probably won't make a big impact in their numbers. \:\)
