Has anyone ever played with or hooked up a mini hydroelectric torbine generator to a damed up creek? Thoughts? How do you like it? Any problems?

face,
I've thought about it. I have a fair to small sized stream, it hasn't ran all summer hardly. A few rains and it gets pretty large.
So just don't have a nice steady flow here.
I would guess the old style water wheel like the old sawmills used could power a small generator in the right stream.
Don't know how much and how fast of water a turbine generator would need.

Make it look easy,

Go to www.homepower.com and click on hydro power. Some interesting stuff.

It's not about the fish. It's about the pond. Take care of the pond and the fish will be fine. PB subscriber since before it was in color.

I've looked into it a bit though I was planning on a direct drive (waterwheel to pump). Those plans have been put on hold due to lack of overflow from my pond.

There are some tax advantages also: http://www.dsireusa.org/

Good site Dave.
