Congrats to all you Astros fans. Despite the assist provided by the umpire at second base (2 on base with 1 out with bad call, bases loaded none out with correct call), your team flat played better and your guy pitched a very good game. That said, GO WHITE SOX!

"High Five to Rangersedge!"
And I can honestly say I've been a White Sox fan for years. My first game was in 1975, we sat just about everywhere with a general admission ticket in Cominsky Park. Second game was in the 80's the night they clinched the AL central title (then failed to make it to the World Series.) That was one crazy party!

OK, svoberts, I can see you have been waiting as long as me for a chance. 30 yrs. here. Rangersedge, the Astros have been screwed by the umps many times in past playoffs. The play at 2nd was iffy. How many corners did Roy O. hit that were not called. Should have been a perfect game. I know the Sox are loaded with pitchers and hitting. I just hope the Astros can make it competitive. Glad to see new blood on both sides. At least a diversion from the Texans. You can see that most Tx. forum members are from around that city to the north. We are not exactly bosom buddies when it comes to sports.

Back up the truck Burger...I want to include all the success of your Houston Oilers. Oh wait, they left Cowboys, 27 winning seasons, playoffs 26 times, won 18 division championships, 8 Super Bowl appearances, winning 5. Houston who ? Green Sunfish ! You're turning me into a a White Sox Fan

I agree that it is good to see some underdogs at the end. I was frankly pulling for the Cardinals and White Sox at the end with the White Sox winning, but the Astros are a good team. They are a team that I had been hoping the Cardinals wouldn't have to go up against. One of the things that has made me a White Sox fan is listening to ESPN Radio Mike & Mike in the morning and others throughout the season. It was like: very early season - the White Sox don't stand a chance early / mid season - the White Sox have done well and overachieved; but they don't have the talent to continue and the Yankees will take it. late season - the White Sox are falling apart as anticipated. It is doubtful if they can hang in there. division finals - WOW! What a team! I think it is safe to say that both teams have overcame adversity and deserve to be where they are. Now... How about those Bears? *kidding*

Sounds like the Houston media and the Astros, when they were 15 games under .500. KCant say I blame them.

My company's parent office is in Houston. I called a collegue down there and she told me the Mayor of Houston told everyone not to wear socks today! That's hilarious! So tomorrow when they are all dealing with stinky shoes, the White Sox crowd will be dancing a jig (with well protected feet) over their first World Series win! BTW, Astros fans, you better take an unbrella and jacket with you, forcast for tomorrow is 52/42 with a 60% chance of showers.

There was a big sendoff party down town; everybody took off their socks and left them there. Now the city workers are cleaning it all up. I think that is a little over the top. I would say that wearing shoes, especially without socks would be very uncomfortaable, although I can't say first hand.

Just leave the socks for Chicago to pick up, cause it could be a sweep!
Last night's came was pretty exciting, right down to the 18th Walk Off homer in WS history.

That is cold, Svoberts. Speaking of cold; I make a motion that the No Sox forfeit games 1 & 2 due to lousy weather!

I bet some folks thought they ended up at Soldiers Field for a football game with that kind of weather.
And a correction, it was the 18th Grand Slam (admittingly made possible by the faulty " struck batter" call) and the 14th Walk Off homer.
In all honesty, both teams got here by hard work. It is just rare that any of my teams make it far enough to root for. White Sox, Bears, and I went to school at West Point and they hardly ever have a winning season, much less one to brag about. At least I've had the Sooners to brag about, but not much this year.

Well, to my shock and surprise, the ol' White Sox actually did pull a sweep. That dang game 3 about killed me, I really didn't need to stay up that late.
Astros played a hard game, I actually hated to see them lose like that. I would have preferred it go to game 6 or 7.

Whoever said "pitching wins in the post season" was talking about the Sox. 11-1 in the playoffs with some serious pitching along the way. I was rootin for the Stros...but the better team won.
It ain't much of story if you don't have pictures!

Yes, the Sox were just a wee bit better. It goes down as a sweep, and will look like not a competitive series when people look back; but every game was exciting. I just wish the Stros cleanup hitter would have recognized his limitations and suggested that he move down in the lineup. How can a world series type batter use a different stance every time up to the plate? Amazing. Two teams that deserved all their accomplishments.

Chalk me up for the White Sox bandwagon. I was born and raised in the 'burb's just south of the city limits. I remember the games at the old Comiskey Park with guys like Luis Aparicio, Carlos May, Bill Melton. It was a long time coming and well deserved. By next season, Konerko should have enuff money to buy Cellular field. Kudo's to the 'Stro's and the entire fan base...a truly worthy opponent.

Burger...those White Sox waited 80+ years to get their World Series, you're no where close to that...be patient. Your Astro's played pretty well, I take back the Green Sunfish comment, they are Bluegill and growing Our stinkin Rangers are wearing the Green Sunfish tag these days.
