Just a quick note that the new Pond Boss arrived in Pittsburgh today.
Excerpt from Robert Crais' "The Monkey's Raincoat:" "She took another microscopic bite of her sandwich, then pushed it away. Maybe she absorbed nutrients from her surroundings."

Lots of tantalizing stuff. Maybe the best content, ever. Our good friend, Theo Gallus, wrote a story about catfish, shiners and bluegill. It is absolutely one of the best written stories we have ever run. The man is eloquent. The main feature is about some of the finer nuances of growing huge bass. Dr. Dave Willis pitches an article called "Fish Biology 101." Otto shows a bit of frustration trying to figure out who needs a permit to build a pond, and who doesn't. His research, in the beginnning, seemed easy...until he made a few phone calls and things became complicated, fast. Dan VanSchaik writes about government programs for wildlife management. Professor Mark Cornwell gives some insight about walleye. Long time Pond Boss subscriber and lurker on this site Bob McFarland writes a real life experience about applying aluminum sulfate. Sherman Wyman built a fence across his property, and spins the story in a way you would never think. Plus, regular features such as Ask the Boss; Field Notes, Managing the mini-pond; Pond to Plate, Waterscapes. It's a sure hit. For those who read this thread and aren't subscribers, this is a great issue to start a subscription. it doesn't cost that much for what you get.

Major props to Theo! Can't wait to see the story in print. I'm sure that the magazine will be great, as usual.

Sept-Oct issue arrived in NW Ohio on Tue Aug 30. It is a very good issue. I am working my way through the articles. The magazine is getting some good educational info between the covers.

Just got done reading new PB cover to cover. It's a pretty impressive product, as far as I'm concerned.
Theo's article is an example of how magazines don't necessarily need to recycle the same stuff over and over again. Awesome work, Theo.
I can't even read some of the major outdoor publications anymore. Every story I feel like I've read before.

Theo :
Great job with the article. Great issue that is full of info. Have read 2 so far Theo's and Dave's. I liked the article on mortality rates also. Many people often forget to account for natural morts. I just got this issue today. Bob why is it that everyone gets their copy first even though I am closer? It must be my mailman keeps it a couple of days to read first. Just kidding no need to answer. But I did hear that Mike Otto is looking for you after his last assignment on Permits. ewest

Guys, the magazine was mailed bulk rate from a mail house in State College, Pa, near the print shop. It went to the post office August 27. Ironically, our Texas readers are last ones to get it. You guys call Kathy Monday and tell her you haven't received your copy. I'll give her a headsup Monday. She'll send a copy, straightaway. Yes, we send a renewal notice..two times, sometimes three.

Truly I'm going to stop posting about the arrival of new issues until I've had 'em for several days, maybe a week or more.
I'm only about 2.5 hours from State College, PA.
Wait until you see the picture of Lusk holding up a LMB. The caption says it's like an eleven pounder. The first thing you think is "no way, that's maybe a five pounder."
But then you realize that Lusk is like seven foot tall; then it makes sense.
