I’ve been feeding Aquamax MVP in my 1/2 acre pond for around 1.5 years now, but the price has increased from $50 to $70 now. It’s time for me to reorder. The Aquamax 500 and 600 are only $55 though. Would one of these be a good substitute, or I thought of maybe getting 1 of each and mixing them. I liked that the MVP had different size pellets and sinking and floating, but not sure if it’s worth the price difference if it’s basically the same food. It’s mostly bluegill that feed on the pellets, some are pretty big, and 2-3 channel cats. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have fed a mix (roughly 6:1) of AQ600 and AQ500 for about 20 years now. When MVP came out, I got a bag of it to check it out.

My conclusion was that unless you have a large % of fish that will ONLY eat sinking pellets, the MVP isn't worth the premium (then about $8 a bag) compared to a 600/500 mix. Plus, I can tailor what % of 600 and 500 I feed depending on population structures and the time of year. (I usually use a little 500 by itself at the very beginning and end of the feeding seasons - figuring since pellet digestion is slower at lower temperatures, smaller pellets might be a good thing.) Plus, a small number of 500 and 600 pellets have always sunk for me anyway.

P.S. AQ500 & 600 are running me $59/bag this year, with zero "by three get one free" promos on any Purina products since the gubmint starting printing money out of thin air.
