Dave, if I start driving right now, I should make it to your neck of the woods by July. \:\) I looked at a map and figured it is about 32 hours drive to SweetGrass, Montana. I stopped looking after that........

I'm in with the Texas boys...let me know if there's anything I can do. Also, please give us enough lead time so we can adjust our schedules.

Heck, it seems I may have to throw in with the Texas boys. When's the date?

Dave,
Sounds like a great idea to me. There are probably a lot of lurkers out there like me that benefit from the forum that would attend.

Sunil, no date yet. You can damn well bet that it will be too hot to fish. Heck, it's 92 degrees now and about 300% humidity.

Dave, I believe you about the heat and humidity.
For any of these regional meetings, we should have a few hours set aside for some TX Hold 'Em poker.

Yeah Sunil; I can just see it now. My wife asking just how much $ I lost playing poker while talking about ponds. Narrow minded woman!

Dave, when we play, we just have buy-ins for $10 or $20. Then you get chips which are not equal to dollars. So you can't loose that bad.

OK, we're gonna do this. Somewhere in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. Sometime in July or possibly early August. Pondrookie and I are having lunch Monday or Tuesday to talk about logistics. He has experience in getting cheap room rates and meeting places and I don't. Getting the reservations will be one of the determinants on the scheduling.

Need 2 things from those interested. What do you see as being a program or do you just want to spend some time putting names with faces? I expect some sort of program is in order. Second, need a firm sort of commitment to show up so we can plan accordingly. I have been contacted by a well known pond speaker and he is checking his schedule.

Anyone local who wants to make lunch, probably Tuesday, let me know. We will probably do it somewhere around Las Colinas/114 area.

OK, we now have a date and location. It will be at a D/FW Airport terminal meeting room on August 13, 9:00 A.M. About a dozen guys have said they will attend. I talked to Lusk yesterday and he is a sure thing. Mike Otto will also be attending.

It will be a round table discussion with no set agenda. Lusk and Otto will answer any questions you/we have. Three different tilapia afficinados, including the world famous tilapia King and Water Turkey rookery owner, Meadowlark, have indicated a positive interest.

Since it will be at an Airport terminal, a list of attendees is necessary. Gary Condo, Pondrookie, will meet attendees at the terminal and escort them to the meeting room (9/11 laws). So, you have to commit or not get in (My wife says nobody will show up because men don't make commitments.). No pocket knives, cigarette lighters, fingernail clippers, box cutters, Uzi's, etc.

Refreshments, coffee and soft drinks, will be provided along with a cold lunch (sandwiches, I guess). Thanks to Gary, there will be no cost.

We have not arranged for hotel rooms for an overnight stay. This necessitates blocking out rooms with guarantees. If someone doesn't show, I have to pay for it. Ain't gonna happen. However, Gary can secure a room for a lot less than you can get it for. If interested, contact him. He has posted on this thread and you can get his E-mail address and contact him.

I will be forwarding Garys E-mail to me regarding directions, etc. to those that have previously responded positively. If you are interested but haven't previously responded, let me know by either E-mail or by my cell phone at 817 832-4724.

Thoughts, questions, bright ideas, etc.?

I have just gotten off the phone with Danny Russell of the Montague County NRCS. Danny built my pond and is very knowledgable about pond building, NRCS programs, etc. He also will attend. Ask about his recent Peacock Bass fishing trip to South America.

Big Pond, Bill D., the irony of this thread is that I started it to see who in the PA/OH/WV/MI/KY region would want to get together.

Then the Texans highjacked it.

I was ready to throw in with them for their meeting, but I'll be out of town that weekend.

Sunil,

I am still interested in a Midwest meeting if it is possible. It is going to be to hard for me to get to the Texas get together this time around. If we get enough interest up here I will help out however I can from my location in NE Indiana.

Sunil, thanks for starting the thread. Durn shame that your wife won't let you come. I was hoping you would come and sign autographs. However, I understand that Bassmaster celebrities have a lot of demands for their time.

We now have 12 attendees coming on 8/13 to the D/FW/Texas/Mississippi meeting. One member/lurker is flying in from Jackson, Miss. Several people are talking to their friends and neighbors about coming with them. Still waiting to hear from several who previously said yes and now haven't yet responded. We are having it at a D/FW Airport terminal and, due to 9/11 restrictions, need names in advance.

There is no cost.

Hey Eastland. Where are you? You have mail.
