I am an associate editor for an outdoor newspaper and I am interested in talking to anyone who has obtained a permit for harvesting double-crested cormorants. I can be reached at drenfrow@lonestaroutdoornews, mdrenfrow@yahoo.com, or (214) 361-2276.

There is no agenda for either side of the what I realize has been a sometimes controversial program. One of the things I want to get a sense of is how many birds have been harvested; permit holders are not required to report to Texas Parks and Wildlife until August. I'd be glad to hear from people like you who are fond of the "water turkeys", Gumboot, as well.

David,
Thanks for the clarification. As you are well aware, "fond" will not be the prevailing adjective used by pond boss forum members for a comorant.
Hopefully you will receive some useful responses. I'm sure all here would like to know results of your survey.

Renfrow, I think you'd get even better feedback from fish farmers that lose lots of profits to this pesky birds.
If pigs could fly bacon would be harder to come by and there would be a lot of damaged trees.

It would be great if your Paper responded in old fashioned ways. Get one or two sponsors and offer a bounty on Comorant feet ! In the "old" days, farmers needed help, and the bounty on crows feet was .25 cents a pair !
