So I found a source for SFS and I'm needing some input from our resident experts. Is it possible to install breeding structure for the SFS after pond is at full pool? I do have 8 large rock structures in the pond which are made out of football sized rock. Structures are 2-3' tall and in 4'of water.

Bill C I think has a archive link on spawning structure for SFS with good pictures. You may have found it already in your searches. Most people hang platters or disks or other crevice material off their dock and suspend it off the bottom. I mounted mine on 1/4" all thread rods and pushed it down in the bottom of the pond in about 2-3' of water to suspend it off the bottom. I tried various sides of the pond and various heights. I tried various crevice size, shape and material too. Fun to experiment!

It is not too late to put the spawning material in later. They won't spawn till water warms up near 70 degrees so you can put them in anytime before then.

I'd like to test this year if natural crevices from submerged logs with rugged bark will be more likely to be used vs artificial grooves sawn into the same logs vs stacks of CDs or other evenly spaced thin platters.

If you can, share the source if they will be able to help others and also document your structure and your success with pictures, we all love to see how things worked for you and learn from it.

I bought a bag of optimal JR and optimal Bluegill and mixed them 50/50. It has been a slow cold warmup here but the SFS are crazy for these pellets any time of day, any weather, sunny, cloudy, cold, warm, you name it. They are fearless, attacking pellets and chasing them right into 1" of water. They seem to 'auto-pellet-train' so I would highly recommend getting a bag or sharing a bag of Optimal. Smaller sizes are better for minnows so I do a 50/50 mix. I hope to take some out and crush it to make it into random smaller sized pieces and some powder and that will help get food into the tiniest mouths.
