Heath I have a few that feed trained themselves lol. I also have crappie in my pond and they have not overcrowded like the LMB have done. This is the first year that I seem to have an abundance of baby BG. This spring I plucked out a double digit LMB out of it. Pond is going on 5years old. My thinking is to feed the BG the best feed that you can and the rest sorta takes care of itself. ( not really) but it helps

That's cool they trained themselves. Congratulations on a double digits bass, they're hard to come by.

Heath...I stocked 1-1.25 pound LMB into our 1.6 acre pond that had an existing LMB population. It has worked out really well. Those stockers were obviously feed trained. I think it is safe to say very few or none of the existing population have been "trained" on the feed. We feed MVP using a TX Hunter feeder.

The adult stockers were all 14" or a little longer so their survival rate appears to be pretty good. They are mostly 3 pounds plus now after stocking in June of 2017.

You might consider giving that a try. BM61.

Hey Snrub, did you get any storm damage? Looks like yesterday's storms hit your area pretty hard, hopefully everyone is safe.

I missed your post KingRace. Must not have been too bad as I don't remember it. We got hit mildly with a tornado way back when I was down south in the winter of 2018-2019 that did a little damage to some sheds but not bad.

Water temperature at the pond 57 today at the surface.

Finally got some action with a few BG hitting some feed I threw out by hand. Had tried a week ago and nothing. Rain tomorrow but supposed to have warm temps and sun later in the week so will put the feeder back out on the dock and start light feeding.

Turned the aeration on for an hour to make sure it was working. Set the timer for an hour a day just to get things started up. Will increase it as it warms up.

Friend caught a 3# bass Sunday so I guess there are still LMB out there.

FA is coming on like gangbusters. Have pond dye ordered but they delayed shipping a week. Should be here by late in the week. Probably needed it in a month ago but with all the rain and flooding it would have been purged mostly out of the pond with the overflow anyway. So all is well that ends well.

Starting to get things going around the pond after being gone all winter.

Friends did some fishing in the main pond and caught a few LMB and one SMB. Some of the LMB pictured below.

The bass are finally doing pretty good. They caught a few small ones that would have been last years spawn so finally the LMB are reproducing. I have had a bit of a problem with my BG over populating and the LMB not spawning. We worked on harvesting the BG the last couple years and stocked some additional LMB a couple years ago. I think we are getting in a pretty good balance now which ought to last for about 15 minutes. Have not harvested any bass to date but that may start if we start catching lots of small LMB. I thought these LMB looked pretty good.

6.25#, 4.81# and 4.38#

That’s the second one caught one last spring that was larger. Didn’t know it was that difficult to do that cause I have caught 2 out of my neighbors pond (let them go). But heck I just want nice crappie! Lol

What are you and your neighbor doing? I assume these are Florida or F1 bass?

They are native bass . My neighbor has done nothing and I mean nothing to grow them to that size.. guess they would be northern LMB?
