I've used some plastic pallets to build structure. Fish seem to like it. Only problem I've come across is that some plastic pallets are hollow and float even more than the wood pallets.
If you have the time to play with this, take water, pop, and any other plastic bottle, a bunch of them, and cut them so you have the opening and about 3-4 inches of the bottle. Slide some of these on a PVC pipe the same size as the bottle opening, going from largest to smallest and do this over again a few times. You can make a flower type of sleeve, add this to a larger PVC pipe by drilling a hole to slide the smaller pipe into it and make a small plastic tree. Anchor it in a coffee can of concrete and drop it, and a few more like it, into where you would like it in your pond. It does take a bit of time, but a fun project, and cheap.
half-acre pond, LMB, HBG, BG, GSH and CC ....goal is to have fun fishing. And I subscribe!
When I get one done I will post a pic. Every time I head that way I get a "can you help me" from the better half, and it has been a busy summer. Fall is here now so I hope to get it done!

Lets try these pics, just using different size water bottles, PVC pipe and hot glue if you need to hold in place. Make a tree, or whatever you have in mind to make a habitat or just growing microbes.
This is just a start to what I am hoping to do. But you can get the idea.

I was having a hard time following your description. That's my bad I'm simple minded. The picture helped alot thank you. I think those should work great. Thank you 4 the idea might have to make some structure now.
I have both plastic and wood. As far as plastic designs, go for it, be like an artist, DeVenche lol. I have used most everything I could find laying around and have bought a few plastic things also, like pvc, rolled tubbing etc. Old deer feeders barrels, garden hose, potted plant containers just to mention a few. Have fun with it. My son says we have too much Me not so much, thinking of adding something new lol
Do not judge me by the politicians in my City, State or Federal Government.
Speaking to this topic, I've found submerged wood (trees or shrubs) to work better than plastic structures. Anybody else care to share their experience?
Great ideas! I’ve decided to do wood and plastic. I’m going to separate the two so people can fish different spots for less likely to get hung versus the wood .
Both type (plastic and wood) structures can work well. The archive thread has some ideas for both. The key to structure is placement as related to the goal to be accomplished. Groups of structure generally work better than singles. Plastic needs to be roughed up to encourage stuff to grow on it. That attracts all items of the food chain.
It has taken me longer than I hoped but here is a picture of my "flower". It is made from a juice bottle and water bottles. I punched a number of holes in the juice bottle with a 1" punch and popped the water bottles into the holes and put the tops on to hold in place. No glue, just add some pea stone in the neck to hold in place once put into the pond. he bottoms of all the bottles are removed, I have made about four so far and it is all things you would trash.
