Was working in my pond last week pulling up watershield and spent a fair amount of time in the water.

Got a nasty rash all over my body that looks to be swimmers rash. Have noticed I got slight rashes in past when I got pond water on me - particually when pulling weeds.

Anyone else get swimmers rash from their pond water?

Very likely swimmers itch. If you have snails in the pond then it is swimmers itch. Google it for more info about it.

Yup - a good number of snails are on the watershield. Stocked some red ear fingerlings earlier this year - hopefully they will grow up and keep the snail population down.

My puppy is getting swimmers itch! I did Google and have read about it, but I see conflicting information. Is it or is it not OK to put copper sulfate in the pond to kill the snails? I have even put an electric fence around the pond, but the dog steps on and over it without even blinking.

If you have the option, yellow perch will clean out the snails also.
