I spent the day fishing in our pond here in Michigan. A good day, lots of BG and a few CC. enjoyed watching the little turtles we have swimming around. But here it the question: All day one big BG has been swimming near to at the surface of the pond, back and forth, for hours. I just went out to feed the fish and it is still out there going back and forth at the surface. Any reason or idea why? My wife and I are both very curious about this behavior.

I had a HSB do that for 2 days and then it died. I don't know what was wrong with it.

Could the fish be old enough to be on its last (old age) leg/fin.

Not sure of anything, but it is not swimming around today, it is late in the season for BG here to spawn, but is that possible?

BG in northern areas can spawn clear up to near the end of August as long as water temps are above 67F.

Based on a similar question I had about YP age and growth, here's your answer... Possible, Probable-maybe not, oh hell yes, maybe, we don't know that yet but it all depends..
