Last night i finished a few artificial structures, taken from ideas i ripped from this forum....from old "scrap" I had around. I used the top and bottom of an old deer feeder, waterline i've been dodging with my tractor for 4 years, old paint buckets (concrete inside), and old water hoses.
.20 acre pond-that leaks/4-5' deep. Stocked 6/22/19 with 300 BG(supposed to be HBG, removed 100+/- so far), 100 RES, 3carp. On 8/20 added 300 HBG, + 21 5"HSB. 8/21 added 5 8" SMB, one 10" LMB , one 14" CC
Cool. Similar to the ones I made. I stood mine up though and sunk it in concrete in a 5 gal bucket. One thing I did wrong was not put a couple of boards beneath the bucket to keep it upright. I know two of the four I put in have tipped over. I imagine they are still doing their job, but maybe not as well. Just an FYI,
9 yr old pond, 1 ac, 15' deep. RES, YP, GS, FHM (no longer), HBG (going away), SMB, and HSB (only one seen in 5 yrs) Restocked HSB (2020) Have seen one of these. I think that's about all I should put in my little pond. Otter attack in 2023
Strange how the simplest things to solve a problem, like screwing a couple of pieces of scrap wood to the bottom of a bucket to stabilize it, seems to go unthought of until it's too late (or at least not without some effort) to fix.
.10 surface acre pond, 10.5 foot deep. SW LA. The epitome of a mutt pond. BG, LMB, GSF, RES, BH, Warmouth, Longear Sunfish, Gambusia,Mud Minnows, Crappie, and now shiners!!...I subscribe!!
