Lately I have been using my cc to consume the fa from the surface of my pond. I get them feeding then I throw food onto the mats the cats come up under it and suck the fa in with the pellets. I don't know if the fa has much nutrients for them but it is a whole lot more fun to see it being sucked down than having to scoop it out or look at it on the surface.

I don't know how much of the nutrients get absorbed by the cats or if it is just putting it back on the bottom

They won't digest the FA.
