If my understanding of aeration is correct, an aerated lake will warm up uniformly from the top down to the bottom, in my case 25 feet. There is no need for bass to move shallow to find warmer water as it's all the same temperature. Now if their food source, say gizzard shad is still over open water (again cause there is no difference in water temps) then bass will stay with the bait until the need to spawn arrives. So when it's 55 degrees in 1 foot of water in a small pocket and 55 degrees at 20 feet of water (due to aeration) then bass have no need to be shallow and you don't catch as many thinking you have a problem with fish populations. Give me your thoughts, not too much has been written on this.

Merely thoughts as I hace no real experience on the matter...

I would bet that the shallows would still be warmer than the deeper waters even with aeration. A few water turn-overs in a pond per day is still not moving the water very fast which should give the shallow waters some time to heat up more than the deeper waters. The shallow waters are also more protected from the bulk of the aeration currents being that they are typically furthest from the diffusers. And, the bottom of the pond, at the shallows, would be reflecting some heat back into the water...kinda like getting a double dose of sunlight.

It's an interesting concept, I will have to do some temperature checks of the shallows once my aerators get up to full speed.

I can see how the fish would spend more time in areas that they normally would not in BOW with aeration. This could appear to the unknowing person to resemble a pond with low fish population. Then again, ponds with aeration are supposed to be able to carry more fish.

Another thought is that predator fish feed on several items that spend their time entirely in the shallows (Frogs, insects, crawdads, etc). This would draw in the LMB regardless of water temps.

When the aeration is not running the fish are located in their normal areas. I caught many bass this winter and early this spring by fishing more traditional areas, points, ledges, docks, etc. Once Aeration was up and running finding bass has been very difficult.
