Have a 1.5 acre pond. My question is in general how many 6in gills compare to yoy gills when stocking? For example if I stock 100 6in gills what is the equivalent for 2in? I have few predators at this point.

I guess I'll step in that trap..
Depends on what predators you have.. You say Few and not "none" so what do you have in there that eats BG??

It is an old sand pit in Nebraska. Probably 70 yrs old. 14 ft deep. It’s been flooded over the years. The past summer I put traps in and have fished it. Seems carp and some greenies. Not good but can’t kill it. Put in 200 4to6 perch, 75 6to8 walleye, 50 6to7 gills, 150 3in red ear, 75 3in crappie, 300 2to3 gills, 15 4in largemouth this past summer. There are not many known bigger bass at this point. Plan is no more largemouth but instead hybrid stripped bass. Plan on a feeder as well. 1.5 acre. Please throw out suggestions. Pond is two thirds covered in cattails. Pretty steep sloped which scares me as to how well spawning will be.

If 2/3rds is covered in cattails, 2/3rds is less than 4' deep-maybe closer to 3'.
That's a heck of a mix of species there, maybe one heck of an experiment!
I fish many parts of Nebraska and your description sounds a lot like some of the places I fish for Northerns..
What kind of water clarity in general, do you see?

Snipe. Thanks for the info. I should clarify 2/3 being around the edge of the pond, not 2/3 of the entire pond. I fished it yesterday and did actually catch one of the 10in crappie I threw in this fall but that was it. Drilled about 30 holes to verify depth to decide where to sink some trees as there is currently no structure other than cattails. This is a pond that has been neglected for decades and I now have sole permission for the fishing and its only 5 miles from my house. So, I figured what the heck, probably throwing good money at bad but just as well experiment a little. So, here i am smile I like the idea of diversity and the possible unknown of what you are going to catch. Trying to somewhat manage the amount of predators though as I may have too many which is why I'm trying to stay on the light end of initial stock numbers of the predators in hopes they will grow faster and give the gills a little more time to populate. I figure worse case, i will throw 4,000 minnows at the pond each spring to help.

Ok, Yeah, cattails hide lots of YOY of everything.
It will be interesting to see how that all comes together. Your Wally's and LMB's are going to be your tools for controlling other's numbers.
Keep us all posted on how it turns out!
