OK - so going to finally resolve the leaking pond problem this year. Have tried Soilfloc without success - so I am down to considering either a liner or shotcrete. Pond is 2/3 acre with 30-45 degrees slopes in most parts. Like your thoughts on pros and cons of each, especially if you have had a first hand experience with either.

Neither. Expensive and just not natural. If you want an "artificial" pond, just dig a small koi pond. Liners will leak, not if, but when. No experience with shotcrete. If you like expensive man made liner or shotcrete, go for it.

Pond Star, liners will last about 15 years, maybe a bit longer when professionally installed, and are pretty pricey. Have you considered the PROPER use of Sodium Bentonite clay? The proper amount of clay needs to be tilled into the pond basin a minimum of 12 inches, then compacted with a sheepsfoot roller. Draining and cleaning/de-mucking your pond, for any choice made will be a must, and can be the biggest expense of all. In the end, Bentonite will be your best, longest lasting "fix" at the lowest overall costs.
