Pond Boss Forums INTRO Questions & Observations threadfin shad

Does anyone know how the tell the differnce between threadfin and gizzard shad? They look the same to me when they're small.

I am quoting this from "Basic Pond Management".
"....by looking at their mouths.Gizzards have a nose, that is their mouth is on the underside of their face that opens somewhat downward."
The threadfin has "a mouth at the end of its face that open more upward."

Roadtrip, last night I finally found some information comparing the two--the mouth thing (which wasn't as descriptive as your quote so thanks) and threadfin have yellow in their tails. I have Basic Pond Management but read it a long time ago. Maybe I need to read it again
I'm actualy closer to Stephenville but have a Hico address that has caused problems for me.
