Hello everyone, I just wanted to introduce myself. I have been reading the forum for the past couple of years and finally decided to join. I’m currently looking at purchasing a property to build a home and a small lake. So I’m sure I’ll have a lot of questions when construction time comes. Until then I would like to thank everyone for the valuable information they contribute here.

You are most welcome, Bearman! We have lots of advice, some of it good.
One thing to keep in mind that I learned from nearly disastrous experience: Just because the soil is red does NOT necessarily mean it is good clay! Know your soils before going final on a deal, nothing is worse than buying land and only then discovering the soil can't support a pond.
