I have a pond that is about .7 acres. It is a man made pond that was dug out about a year ago. I have fish in there now and they made it through the summer. Max depth is 10 feet. I have power ran down to the pond and it is on a switch. I have no idea what I need to help aerate, it is starting to get some algae growth etc and I want to keep the fish alive. I dont want to break the bank but I also dont want junk. Please advise as to what will work for my situation. Also, I wouldnt mind a fountain of some sort but I hear that aeration is more important. Looking for recommendations.

Welcome to the club Hammer!

Air pumps are the popular vote for aeration while fountains are certainly nice, but they do not have the reputation for full functionality and efficiency as the air diffuser design.

Matala (sp?) and vertex are some diffuser brands that I see mentioned here quite a bit. Gast, Thompson (sp?), and Hiflow pumps seem to be popular with the DIY'ers. Pond Lyfe complete systems seem to be a good option.

I have had pleasant experiences with Hoosier Pond Pros. Give them a call and they can lead you on a good path.

Are you looking to do it yourself or buy a system? It is my opinion that the complete systems are a better deal especially if you value your time, but the DIY route is a lot of fun if your into that kind of stuff. A do it yourself system can be done on the cheap, but you forfeit all the bells and whistles.

I just purchased 2 vertex diffusers from Hoosier. Great customer service, best price and fast shipping.
